The following is a list of common heuristics, many of which are common-sense solutions. Oftentimes, that is exactly such a heuristic really is: a solution to a problem that simply makes the most sense. Delete Your Issue: If there are tasks on your daily to-do list that are simply bulky, time-consuming items, scratch them off, or delete them out of your calendar! Sometimes, the best approach to clear your schedule is always to off-load any excess interruptions. Set Daily Objectives: If you set off the day without knowing how you want your day to travel, or what you would like to accomplish, it will be difficult to stay focused. You should decide in advance what is important to you, and stay dedicated to that. Take Care with the Worst First: By getting things away from your way that you find being the most unpleasant, your day can only get better! Examine your tasks, and begin the day by dealing with the assignments and responsibilities that you really find annoying or extremely horrible. Get these taken care of, and then move up on better things. Peak Times: Note down when you are at your best every day. Schedule your most important, critical assignments and tasks for these schedules. This will ensure you produce your best work and maintain your most critical responsibilities. Solitary Confinement: There is going to be blocks of time through the day that you will need to be uninterrupted in get to concentrate. Be sure that you plan ahead for these blocks of your energy, scheduling your more heavy assignments for these sole hours. Mile Markers: While working through the task, be sure you know how much you intend to have accomplished before you require a break, or move up on another task. Have an apparent goal, and do not stop until you have reached that distance marker. Time-Boxing: Set a time limit for how long you will work on a particular task. If you think that something should take 1 hour, time yourself for that you hour while performing that task. Once the hour is up, move on. Batch It: If there are tasks you're able to do while another task is being looked after, do them together! Batch them into one assignment and knock them available faster. Get the Worm: As Benjamin Franklin said, "The early-bird gets that worm. " This tidbit of truth probably will make you productive right in the get-go. Wake up early, and get going on your most strenuous daily goals. You will most likely get more done in the first couple hours in the day than in the whole afternoon. Ditch your Network: If you have work to do on your hard drive that does not require Access to the internet, take your laptop to a location that doesn't have WiFi, and knock out your work quickly. Often, things like social networks, or e-mail can cause simple tasks to adopt double the time. Speed Up the Metronome: A metronome in music keeps enough time steady that drives the speed on the song. Speed up your tempo by making a concerted effort to accomplish everything faster. Do not perform a sloppy job, or be careless; consciously work quicker, walk faster, and operate for a price that says you are serious.
