Respect

A team member can earn the respect from other members by following through on required tasks and consistently doing what they've agreed to do. Also, a team that respects one another will realize that certain people may be considered experts in specific aspects of the business. A team member who's respected won't be second guessed, leading to a more efficient team.

Balance

Team managers tend to choose people whose personalities match their own. While this may seem like a good idea, it often leads towards teams that are skewed to a specific set of strengths, as well as a specific set of weaknesses. This inevitably leads to teams having blind spots and underperforming in some critical areas. Having a balanced team will sometimes come with conflict, but that conflict is usually healthy as it keeps teams well rounded and focused on everything that is needed to complete projects. When building teams managers should intentionally look for team members that bring a different approach from him/herself in order to ensure a good blend of strengths.
