The theme of World Kidney Day (WKD) 2010 is to protect your kidneys and control diabetes , which is the leading cause of Chronic Kidney Disease. On this day, we are encouraged to check if we are at risk for kidney disease. More than 5% of the adult population have some forms of kidney damage, and every year millions die prematurely of cardiovascular diseases linked to Chronic Kidney Diseases (CKD). Kidney diseases develop slowly and the symptoms only appear at a late stage when the patient already has kidney failure and may even need dialysis. And the majority of individuals with early stages of CKD go undiagnosed. Therefore, an early self evaluation of your kidney’s function is essential and allows suitable treatment before kidney damage or deterioration. The following 8 signals of nephropathy, prescribed by experts, may help you to have an early detection. Please mark “×” on the corresponding description according to your physical condition during the last three months.
