For retail businesses the past 12 months have most likely been rather tough, with the slow and steady climb back from financial insecurity thanks to the global financial crisis a lot of small businesses have struggled to remain afloat.  A part of the problem is that customers are more cautious with their money and big shopping sprees have been off the menu for some time now. What many businesses were slow to realise is that retailers need to make a more concerted effort to draw in the crowds with promotions and effectively marketing themselves to a more cautious consumer.  Effective Point of Sale strategies will help you achieve your sales goals by appealing to the customer with clear signage and an efficient store layout that makes it easy for customers to find their way round and what they want to buy. One strategy that can really help drive people into your store to find out more is by effectively using any pavement or passing pedestrians using pavement signs.  Pavement signs can be used to promote any promotions you have such as sales or particular products of interest or they can be used almost like signposts to point out the location of your store to passing pedestrians or even motorists. In the past pavement signs like sandwich boards lined the streets of many towns and cities but in recent years haven’t been as popular, as more people are on the lookout for special deals or promotions that make the products seem more attractive or cheaper then you may be missing out on  key part of promotion and advertising that could bring customers into your store. Obviously getting customers through your doors is only the first part of the task, the next is to make sure they stay in and buy something.  You’ll therefore need promoted items to be near the front of the store, so anything that you have advertised is right at the front for customers to check out and hopefully purchase. Having signs and stands clearly indicating where each product category is located is important too.  For instance in a clothes store you want to point out where men’s, women’s and children’s clothing is situated.  Shop displays should be well stocked and have clear signs declaring prices or any “2 for 1” promotions that may be running in your store. A lot of stores will have consultants help design a shop layout or promotional campaign so make sure you do all you can to make your business stand out to shoppers. Make sure you look at the wide varieties of pavement signs and A Boards that can help promote your business from the side of the street where it can be seen.
