A Restaurant with a Growing Reputation in the UK

Looking for elegant 21st century styling in the heart of the English countryside? Then look no further! The Marquis at Alkham is a strikingly contemporary restaurant with rooms situated in the rural and unspoiled village of Alkham, located in the Alham Valley.

The restaurant was a product of a major renovation in 2008 by a local property developer. He transformed it from The Marquis at Granby which was a pub in financial difficulties, to The Marquis at Alkham; a restaurant bought back to its former glory.

To continue the change for the restaurant, Charlie Lakin was installed to provide the fine cuisine using the most local, seasonal produce available. Charlie had a prestigious history working at the Star Inn in Harome, which won various awards and accolades; including a Michelin Star.

Fast forward two years later and how far has the restaurant come? Well it has an average rating of 4.5/5.0 in the TripAdvisor Restaurant review, has been awarded 2 AA rosettes and was named as one of the Rising Stars of British cuisine in this year’s Michelin Guide. Provided the restaurant shows the same level of consistency over the course of the next 12 months, then it will be awarded the full Michelin Star award.

The restaurant is heading in the right direction, with its varied menu choices, boutique look and beautiful surroundings; it will become a place of visit for those visiting Kent.
