Most people enjoy adventure. More often than not, they define adventure as some outdoor activity that requires guts, or some activity that helps them exercise their bodies while enjoying what nature has to offer. Whatever adventure is for them, the goal is to forget momentarily their boring workweek and routine schedules.
One of the most common adventure trips that people take nowadays are hiking, traversing trails, or just plain walking. Simple yet effective adventure hikes, while walking on steep edges of the trails, can easily exercise most parts of your body. However, if your adventure trip lasts longer than expected, then you may experience backaches or knee pain. In line with this, adventure seekers that are interested in hiking or walking may feel the need to own a hiking stick.
A hiking stick makes any trail easier and safer to walk on, especially of the path is zigzag or steep. These hiking sticks are usually made out of wood or aluminum, making it durable for their exact purpose. Winter ski poles can be a good alternative to these hiking sticks, but these poles may not be able to support the person’s overall stance and body, making it even harder for them to hike or walk through their trekking adventure.
Walking sticks for hiking helps lengthen the life of a person’s knee and back, since it can absorb the shock while walking, giving additional balance all while crossing ravines and dangerous treks. These walking sticks come in a variety of functional designs, with every design fit for a particular purpose. For instance, if the person needs extra grip and support, then they may get a hiking stick with support handles.
Walking sticks for hiking are also available with designs that have no handles, or do have a knob handle. These hiking sticks also have a flat metal tip or a rubber tip, and sometimes even a hiking spike for extra grip. Based from the availability of these hiking sticks and a hiking staff, the basic difference of one to the other would be the size and the balance. These two kinds are both designed to be used for activities, not unless it is for physical therapy. The hiking stick usually goes around 40-48 inches, while the hiking staff can measure from 5-7 feet tall.
People use walking sticks for hiking for several reasons. Besides additional support, they can also use these hiking sticks for protection against possible thieves that might be lurking around the area. The stick can also be used against possible animal dangers, especially snakes when hiking outdoors.
