Sending parcels within the UK and abroad is easily done nowadays but the important thing to remember is that the courier company is not liable for the contents of your consignment and you are responsible for ensuring that the items you are sending are not dangerous or hazardous. The company will normally have a prohibited items list that you can check the item against and if it isn’t there and you still aren’t convinced then you can always get in touch with them to check. Packing an item is important because by doing so sufficiently you are helping your delivery reach its destination safe and securely. Packing and sending parcels is straight forward as you can easily find the right container to fit the item but if you are sending special items such as bicycle, crockery and china, car parts or musical instruments you have to pay more attention to the their packing requirements. You may need to send a bike if you have sold it on an auction site and are not able to deliver it yourself or sending it in for repair. If you do need to send a bike then it is a good idea to remove pedals, handlebars and front wheel. You can contact bike shops for the right sized container as they will have he ideal size. Once you have the right container you can pack all the parts you have disconnected and pack it with the rest of the bike. Another unusual item that may need to be sent is car parts and hardware, especially for automotive companies who need to certain parts they do not have in stock. The first thing you need to do is to ensure that all hazardous substances are removed such as hydraulic fluid, fuel, oil and antifreeze. Wrap the item in paper or, better still, polyethylene to help prevent scratches. Ensure that obtruding parts are well packaged so they do not pierce the container and ensure you tape the container with duct tape or other strong tape. For sending crockery, glassware or china you need to ensure that each one is wrapped in Bubblewrap carefully and separated from each other. To separate them you can use polystyrene chips, rolled or shredded paper. It is important to ensure they are not going to crash against each other so packing china and crockery is vital to ensure they do not smash. If you are looking for worldwide parcel services make sure you look online where a range of international couriers can be found.
