Amazing Entrepreneurs: How You Can Be One

All entrepreneurs that are just starting out have a lot of work to do that needs to get done. It can be very easy to get caught up in the day by day running of a business and you forget most of the time that running hard does not equate running in the right direction. To stay focused on the early stages in running a business, you should remember to input three important things to your routine: planning, selling and executing. These tasks given require different mindsets to get done. There are some entrepreneurs that can excel in all three roles but the amazing entrepreneurs are the ones who are aware of their strengths and weaknesses and build their team accordingly.

Good entrepreneurs set everything in a big and intimidating goal that they have. In order to do this, they must have a general plan as to where they want to go yet they should not waste a lot of time in creating the perfect plan. The thinking of an entrepreneur must be like that of an architect wherein the concept and design phase is the main focus and not the detailed schematic phase. Details should change accordingly as new customers and market feedback arrives. This is also the main reason why many venture capitalists bet first and foremost on the people while the plan comes second. That is because it is far easier to adjust people than to adjust a plan. The plans at the startup stage need a clear purpose and a few top priorities in order to be achieved.

Amazing entrepreneurs are needed to be constantly selling their story of the vision that they have as well as research on how it could be developed. Whether the plan is to raise funds or have a vision among employees, an entrepreneur needs to constantly pitch just like a salesman and act as the storyteller of the company. There should be more business schools integrating the art and science of communications and selling it into their curriculum. Even if an entrepreneur is moderately good at selling, they gain valuable experience by selling on the front lines and are able to gain access to invaluable customers and product research. Customer interactions that are done by the company can help turn a directional vision into a more precise focus. This has been especially true in the digital world where strategies are iterative with the more common version releases.

Being able to plan, sell and execute may sound too straightforward but by playing the three roles all at once, it can be a challenging stage for any new business owners. To assess your own entrepreneurial aptitude and effectiveness, take a long look at your latest convergence, activities and tasks. Once you are able to understand which of these areas you are strongest, focus on the priority skills that you can quickly fill the gaps by using the best talent in your workforce that you can find. Remember that amazing entrepreneurs always practice consistency in everything they do.
