When you ask the average person a question or two regarding antiaging systems, they frequently reply with total confidence, which in turn suggests they have complete belief in their current skin care regimen. Dig a little deeper though, by asking a few more questions, and a general lack of knowledge starts to become apparent. The reality of the matter is that most people don't know all they should regarding personal skin care, but of course this is only to be expected, give that people are generally conditioned to believe whatever they read, and even more so if that information is coming from people who are largely seen to be experts in their specific field.
When it comes to looking younger than you actually are, practically all the big name skin care manufacturers advocate the use of their products, including anti wrinkle creams and etc. Besides the fact that many such products are totally ineffective, and on occasions even potentially dangerous, practically none of the leading manufacturers focus on the other aspects of antiaging systems. A legitimate system involves more than just the use of creams and lotions.
What you eat is equally as important in terms of having a youthful appearance. If you live on a diet consisting primarily of junk foods and processed foods, you are going to be fighting an uphill battle in your attempt to keep lines and wrinkles at bay. Many of these foods contain a large amount of salt, and too much salt can leave your skin looking tired and dry. What's more important however, is not what they contain; it is what they do not contain.
The human body is an amazing thing, but in order to function as it should, it requires a wide range of vitamins, minerals, and nutrients, all of which are lacking in processed foods and refined foods. The only way to ensure your body is getting what it needs is by eating plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Even then, the chances are your diet will still be lacking in certain areas, since very few people do actually eat a 100% balanced diet. Omega-3 fatty oils for example, play a significant role in terms of overall health, and they are also a key player as far as skin condition is concerned.
Many people are so focused on the use of creams and lotions, and other forms of external skin care, that they end up neglecting the "internal" side of things. Naturally we cannot buy each and every type of dietary supplement we come across, but it is certainly advisable to take a few supplements, based on the areas where your current diet may be lacking. It's also possible these days to get a really good "all round" supplement which addresses several issues.
Regular physical exercise is also a vital component of effective antiaging systems, and yet millions of people choose to ignore this area of skin care. People who exercise regularly which always age better than those who never exercise at all, whether they use any skin care products or not. When you age, it's not only your skin that is affected, but also your internal organs and your mind. When you want to slow down the hands of time, you have to confront it on all fronts, rather than just relying on the latest anti wrinkle cream. The bottom line is a poor diet and lack of exercise is going to propel you into the realms of premature aging faster than you ever imagined possible.
While skin care products aren't the be all and end all of having a lovely youthful appearance, they do however play an important role, providing you use the correct type of products. Using the wrong sort of products can do more harm than good, and can actually lead to premature aging of the skin. Many mainstream brand names contain several highly questionable ingredients. Not only can these cause serious health problems, but they can also damage your skin.
Many people also tend to be under the impression that the ingredients in creams and lotions are only able to penetrate the outer layer of skin, but this couldn't be any further from the truth. Thousands of substances can penetrate the skin and enter the bloodstream. A good example of this would be the nicotine patches smokers use when they're trying to kick the habit. For this reason, the skin care products you use should be totally chemical free, and in fact, they should not contain any ingredient you couldn't safely eat. In other words, you need to carefully assess all antiaging systems that are touted to be highly effective and only choose that which contain active natural ingredients.
