Some people consider Tarot cards as a means to learn about, or seek advice for their everyday problems To understand the significance of Tarot cards, one must learn about the two Arcanas involved in Tarot card readings - the Major Arcana and the Minor Arcana.

The 56 cards of the Minor Arcana have four suits - pentacles, cups, wands and swords. Each of the suits has 14 cards, including 4 'face' cards: Queen, King, Knight (or Lady) and Page (Or Princess). The remaining cards, numbered from Ace to Ten, can be illustrated or plain (just showing the geometric grouping of the suit's symbols).

The minor arcana cards that we select in tarot card reading work with the major arcana cards in the reading. Reading tarot cards involves divining the meaning of each card in the context in which it is dealt. Tarot spreads (the way cards are dealt) include the Celtic Cross, the Astrological spread, and the Horseshoe spread. It also has correspondences to a certain path, trump, Hebrew letter, and Zodiac element planet, as well as deities, animals, and plants.
