Authors, Entrepreneurs Cooperate to Define Economic Stimulus: Living Trusts, Marriage Compatibility

Authors and business owners work together for their mutual benefit in a book launch. A book launch is a special kind of promotion in which an author gathers allies who offer gifts and send out messages on a particular day or during a certain span of time to their followers. This joint venture approach stimulates interest, leads and sales for all parties concerned. This collaboration empowers them to define economic stimulus by cooperatively promoting each other's work for the benefit of their audience.

Although the value of gifts can rise to hundreds or even thousands of dollars, the best launches focus on the value of the author’s book and the alliance among like-minded contributors with relevant gifts. For the entrepreneur or business owner who becomes a promotion partner, contributing to an author’s book launch brings fresh prospects who might not have otherwise known about their business. An influx of fresh leads during the launch means that everyone who participates can gain new customers.

How a book launch works:

An author, alone or with the help of a service, builds strong relationships with individuals who serve the same audience. Ideally, the author looks toward long-term strategic alliances rather than a one-time advertiser. By focusing on relationship building and future development with promotion partners, the author forms strategic alliances that exponentially boost his or her following. The more influential the allies are, the more quickly the author’s following grows.

Here is an example. An author of a book about real estate could collaborate with key players in debt reduction, estate planning, shopping discounts, communication, and DIY projects, to name but a few. A wedding planner could collaborate with vendors who offer hotel booking, airfare discounts, tuxedo rental, flowers, music, home décor, lingerie, and of course, the author of a book on marriage.

Possibilities for both online and offline alliances are limited only by imagination. The more the author and partners work together, the better the results. The idea is “people who buy this would also want that.”

Benefits of participating in an author’s book launch:

Everyone who promotes the author’s book during the launch period or emails and provides a gift for the author’s launch receives promotion through several blogs, over 60 social networks and in online press releases. More involved launch partners receive more publicity.

Promoters who provide a bonus gift for the author also grow their subscriber list, because people who accept the gift must give their email address to receive it. Relevant gifts produce more leads.

Ways to participate in an author’s book launch:

Contributors commit to do any (or all) of the following: Blogging, emailing, social networking, text broadcasting, and/or host the author in an internet radio show interview. The launch coordinator prepares and distributes a number of promotional pieces that make participation easy, such as links to the author’s bio, articles and website/blog, tweets, text messages and emails.

Blogging

Bloggers using any platform, such as Blogger, Wordpress, Typepad and Ning with a relevant following for the author’s book can participate in several ways.

One method is to interview the author via email and post the interview on their blog. How this works: The blogger sends 5-10 interview questions, which the author answers. The blogger also creates a pre-interview post announcing a guest interview on the date to which they have agreed. This is an easy way to provide value for the audience and publicity for the author.

Additionally, a blogger can also post an article by or about the touring author to post. Simply taking a story by the author from an article directory and adding a mention of the special book promotion benefits all concerned.

Yet another way for a blogger to participate in an author’s book launch is to review the book and post the review to the blog. How this works is that the participant reads the PDF version of the author’s book and posts a review on the specified date.

An additional way for the blogger to gain exposure is to post a shorter version of the review on Amazon.com.

Emailing

People with a large list of email subscribers commit to sending a couple of pre-written emails to their subscribers. How this works is that the list owner receives plain text messages from the launch coordinator to broadcast at the appropriate date and time.

Adding some personalization to the message, especially at the beginning, so the message feels like it came “from you” brings about better results. Mentioning the bonus the list owner offers also increases responses, because the recipient will take this as an endorsement. Thus, opt-ins for the bonus which the promoter offers increase dramatically.

Social Networking

Not everybody has an email list, however many people are extremely active and influential in social sites such as Twitter, Ning, Facebook, and even forums. The launch coordinator prepares a special shortened link for using on sites such as Twitter and Ping.fm, and even pre-written “tweets”, which are posts of 140 characters or less for Twitter and other networks in which space is extremely limited.

Text Message Broadcast

Text broadcasts are an emerging trend that companies such as retail stores, radio stations, and reality television are employing. Those who send text message broadcasts can take the pre-written tweets and send those short missives to subscribers.
