Baidu Youa closed the C2C platform and made the transition

A informed source from epathchina said, Baidu Youa C2C e-commerce platform will transform into e-commerce platform alliance and information classified service site. The message has not been officially confirmed. On March 31, Baidu Youa released proclamation on business restructuring that within 1 month products, shop, trade-related functions on Youa shopping platform will be closed.

According to epathchina informed sources, in 2008 when Baidu prepared for e-commerce platform, Taobao was once high tension. The outside world were speculating the model of Baidu e-commerce: one is built like Taobao C2C platform, the other is similar to Google's e-commerce alliance. the common is that both models need to lead in users and traffic, the difference is that the former have to pay brand-building investment and high operating costs; the latter can make use of the original search engine franchise . But Baidu finally chose the former.

Baidu E-commerce division was established on September 2007, and its Youa platform was launched on October 2008. Then owning to the indefinite orientation and intense competition from Taobao and Tencent, the development of Baidu Youa is not smooth. On March 2010,Youa general manager Li Mingyuan left. On September 2010, Baidu Youa launched daily life platform to provide users with business information, groupbuy, coupons and other services.
