I know, I know… Barcelona (Spain) is well known for its nightlife and for Gaudi like Sagrada Familia but there are other things which make this city wonderful. A city without parks and gardens is not a city but a s**t !!!
After all, people going to vacation to this city, not only they will enjoy the nightlife and the architectures but, I'm sure that they will appreciate to breathe some fresh air in 5 of the most beautiful and interesting parks of Barcelona.
The City Park (parc de la Ciutadella) located at "passeig picasso 1" street where there are a lot of spaces to have fun. Connected to the zoo, there is a small pool that people can rent a boat for a romantic tour. The big mammouth near the impressive fountain is one of the main attractions for children. An area to play ping pong with unknown persons or with friends, many spaces to have a snap on the grass and to listen the birds singing. The most interesting are the castle which was called the 3 dragon castle and now it is the zoology museum, the chapel, very nice to discover and the big and impressive fountain.
The Park Guell located at "olot" street which is the famous park built by Gaudi. There are a lot of entrances but the main one is the address I just gave you. From here, you will be welcomed by the ceramic dragon and walking up the stairs you will enter to the impressive columns room where on the ceiling, you will see motifs representing the sun. From the snake square, there is a great view on Barcelona but keeping going up, there is a better viewpoint. The wave room will make anyone imagining that he/she is going to surf on the beach, the park is very a great place to pass all day.
The Pedralbes Garden (jardins del palau de pedralbes) located at "avinguda diagonal 686" is a little far away from the downtown, walking will take more or less 50 minutes from catalunya square. It is a long walk but a very nice one because you will walk up all along the diagonal street with its many trees. I think it is the most charming entrance because the garden welcomes anyone by a beautiful pool with a fountain in the middle and a ground covered with flowers. The walk is very nice and interesting because there are a lot of sculptures around it including a Gaudi fountain and a palace to visit.
The Botanic Garden, located at "doctor font i quer 2" in Montjuic, lodges an interesting collection of Mediterranean plants and species. The most interesting is not to sleep on the grass, moreover it is forbidden but to increase the knowledge in the plant area and to enjoy a nice walk, far away from urban noises because Barcelona is really a noisy city but beautiful. The entrance costs 3,50 euros and a lot of interesting discoveries. Moreover, on some points of the place, there are some great views on the stadium and the Sant Jordi Palace.
My last one of my list, the Laberint d'Horta Park located at passeig castanyers 1-17. After paying about 2 euros, you will discover a park divided in 3 sections, the first one with a vegetal labyrinth composed of cypresses, very fun to get in and after to find the other way out. The 2nd one with 2 pavilions where you will see the statues of Danae and Artemis and the 3rd one with a pavilion dedicated for the muses and a nice fountain. This place is really for lovers because it owns a kind of romantic ambiance.
