Companies dealing with elearning training solutions have advanced software that they could just develop, edit then sell. Anyone may think that they have their own company secret or formula that they use in order to make their software effective; however, this is not necessarily true. Regardless, if it’s in the tier of high technology or advanced interactivity, companies focusing on elearning would still have to adhere to the basic standards of lecturing. Basically, one does not need to have elearning training solutions just to make a good and effective e-course. In fact, any one can make it with the right amount of consideration of these factors:
1. Identifying the learners
Every person is unique in their own way but all of us fall into certain categories of personality. For teachers, knowing who you are dealing with gives a great focus and perspective on how to teach these certain individuals. Some learners require more attention than the others, some need less work while some prefer to being taught together in a group than one on one. This will essentially help the learning process if the learner is very comfortable in the way he is being taught.
2. Determine objectives
Knowing what to do and how to do it is the basic goal of elearning courses. Determining the objectives of course would let the student know what to expect. A syllabus with scheduled date of activities would also give the learner time to plan ahead if they need more time to study. Letting the students know the purpose and goal of what he is studying will also provide him a guide to where he wants to be academically headed without questioning or doubting what he is working on. The syllabus will both allow the lecturer and the student to make flexible arrangements if one of the parties doesn’t meet the expected results. An effective e-course must always posses the ability to adapt to its learner.
3. Choosing strategies and treatment
As stressed in point one, the purpose of having specific activities suited to the learner is that he can be comfortable and more relaxed when it came to the learning process. Needless to say, every activity in the e-course may variably be used depending on which student the lecturer is teaching. For example, not all students are comfortable with fill in the blank exams. The best cure or possible alternative for this is to make the tests more creative and pressure free. Doing matching types shown with pictures or flash will definitely help some of the learners in remembering the right answers. 1
4. Interaction and Graphics
Discussion is an essential part of the learning process usually done after the lesson is taught. This develops the learner to expand on his own ideas and become expressive of them. Graphics such as animation, multimedia, photos and text can give the learner a vibrant feel to the course and would be enticed to learn the lessons. Lessons as well as discussion boards which are backed up by graphics are proven to be better taken in by learners since the memory retention particular to visual stimulation is much longer.
