BBQs Galore and Beefeaters: A reveiw of the Beefeater and other grills

Upon placing my last piece of darkened chicken breast on the platter, closing the grill hood down and turning the burner knobs to off. I pondered the possibility that my family would not be commenting on how “dark”, a nice way of saying “burnt”, the chicken was. This was a common joke at the table when Dad was grilling. After a few years of making do, I decided it was time to find a new grilling unit. It was apparent that this fifteen year old, homemade cooker just wasn’t doing the trick any longer.
I slid up to my computer, opened up Google and began my search for the prefect replacement grill and “WOW”, I could not believe the number of sites that were offered up, it certainly looked like BBQ’s Galore! What I needed was some kind of checklist to help me whittle down my choices. As I continued searching and jotting down notes, I came across Beefeaters grill company, an Australian made unit. The site contained just what I was looking for regarding a check list of what to look for in that perfect grill:

1. A good warranty from a reputable manufacturing
2. A unit that was easy to use, easy to clean and virtually rust free
3. Constructed of commercial grade high quality material for durability and longevity
4. An ignition system that was not battery operated.
5. A means of collecting and disposing of the accumulated grease
6. A means of reducing flare-ups caused by the fat drippings
7. A burner assembly with high heat output with even heat distribution and searing

This list made sense to me so I looked further into the Beefeater units. This company offers units in 30,000, 45,000, 60,000 and 75,000 BTU output. The burner assemblies come in a 2. 3. 4 or 5 configuration offering greater cooking coverage. Beefeaters has also patented a means of reducing flare ups with a porcelain covered plate called a vaporizer. As a result of this feature there is no need for briquettes and the mess associated with replacing them. These units boast a cooking surface of 357 sq in on the smaller 2 burner unit to 714 sq in on the high end 5 burner unit, the cast iron grates are also coated in a porcelain finish to reduce rusting and make cleanup a breeze.
The base often referred to as a trolley, comes in an open model for the lower end units and a close model on the higher end units. These trolleys sport either a two shelf model or a one shelf and one side burner configuration. The trolley, hood cover and shelves are all made of high grade stainless steel, again for a rust free unit that is easy to maintain.
The igniter assembly is of a quartz start mechanical design that is built into the burner knobs, eliminating the need for batteries and failures. The ignition pin is coated with a titanium coating to give it a longer life. Control knobs are mounted a stainless steel front plate that allows for maximum ventilation.
These units appear to be very well constructed, meet the seven requirements that one should be looking for in a quality grill and have enough of an offering that would satisfy even the most passionate grilling enthusiast.
