The Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is designed to provide the essential elements of what is needed by an entry level trainer and assessor in any Vocational Education and Training (VET) context as well as providing a firm foundation on which to build further knowledge and skills.
A key focus of the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is that it’s an entry level qualification required by trainers and assessors of training package qualifications as determined by the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF). Such a qualification in training and assessment offers vocational skills for effective training and assessment in a specific subject area. Students can seek employment as an enterprise assessor, enterprise trainer, Registered Training Organization (RTO) trainer, RTO assessor, training adviser or training needs analyst, or vocational education trainer. . Upon completion, students will understand the operation of the vocational education and training sector, deliver training, able to plan and administer training programs, evaluate and promote training, and assess competency.
There are ten units of competency required for completion in order to gain the certificate qualification consisting of seven core units and three elective units.

Learning design:
Design and develop of learning programs
Use Training Packages and accredited courses to meet client needs
Delivery and facilitation:
Plan, organize and deliver group based learning
Plan, organize and facilitate learning in the workplace
Assessment:
Plan assessment activities and processes
Assess competence
Participate in assessment validation
Elective units:
Contribute to assessment
Provide work skill instruction
Make a presentation
TAE4010 is delivered face-to-face over seven days over two sessions. A practical assessment involving the delivery of training and conduction of assessments is held is held over two days approximately one month after the first face-to-face Session one class.
Assessment for this course is via a combination of practical and written assessment tasks; the written component being completed outside of the class room, although many assessment tasks can be completed during the first five day session.
