I just want my Daughter back , Coming to terms with Bipolar 1 is a compelling narrative of a normal everyday mother who lives with the turmoil of having a child with Bipolar 1- and the wide range of emotions that consume her and her family as this illness takes over. Bringing to life the shock and pain that comes with recognizing that their lives will never be the same, Author B C Levinson, opens her heart to describe the loss and suffering a parent feels when this illness engulfs their lives. The trauma of discovering that this doesn’t just happen to someone else gives Levinson a whole new perspective on Mental Illnesses.
Humbled when she realizes that her daughter is the one with more grounded principles, Levinson shares her guilt and confusion as she tries to cope with one of her daughters heartbreaking decisions. Through trial and error, I just want my Daughter back; illustrates how through determination and love both mother and daughter find the way to a hopeful new beginning. Families suffering through the effects of mental illness quickly find themselves identifying with the writer’s experiences as they discover ways they too can come to terms with Bipolar 1.
