Hello Guys and Gals,
I used to work customer service for two and a half years. In that time i have encountered a large number of people what really didn't understand how to speak to customer service agents. So with that being said left me digress and hopefully help you all in your dealings with calling into customer service. My past customer service experience was dealing with a cell phone company. A lot of this post will be about that and the situations I handled on a daily basis.
One of the most important things to remember when calling in is that it is a person your speaking to at the other end of the line. They are paid to sit there and help you with what ever issue or misunderstanding you are having with the company. They are not the company themselves. So calling in yelling and throwing a fit is not something that will in the end get you what you want. That is to say don't be angry. But insulting the agent on the other end of the phone wont help you any. Try being as nice as you can given the situation. As an example if you have lost your item or it was stolen. That was something that was completely out of the business control and sadly something that is with in our control (The consumer). So if you leave your nice new Android phone on the dash of your car and it got stolen. t isn't the providers obligation to provide you with a new cell phone free of charge. How ever if you call in and just tell them that it was stolen and your looking to replace it. They will let you know the options that is set forth. And if you happen to get a rep that is anything like i was. I would bend some rules for them and try to get a good price for the phone.
In this example I'm referring to a cell phone. You wouldn't call the customer service of your favorite brand of clothing and demand a free paid of shoes because yours got stolen.
If your dealing with customer service were you do pay a bill every month. Cell phone, Internet, TV, etc. And for some reason the bill is higher then normal. You either ordered to much PPV , went over your bandwidth limit, Minutes, etc. Then just be honest with them and ask if there is anything they can do to help you out. If your a good standing customer and haven't been calling in for credit all the time. Then chances are good that they will he happy to help out as much as they can. Once again a good composer and not biting the head off the poor rep will generally yield better results for you.
In the shorter condensed version of this. It's like we all heard at least once in our life. Treat others as you with to be treated. Because you know you wouldn't want someone call you at work to chew your head off either.
