The city of London is one of the world's most popular tourist destinations, with hundreds of first rate cheap hotels London-wide, loads of fine museums and art galleries, and obviously the remarkable history and architecture for which the city is so famous, it's a wonderful place to enjoy a city break, or a longer holiday.
If you're spending all your time sightseeing, things often get pretty tiring, and you might feel the need for a momentary break to recoup your energies.
One possibility is to head to the British Museum, it's free to go in, but the cafes are expensive. Nonetheless, roughly once a fortnight you can enjoy a Japanese tea ceremony for free in room 92.
Another, even more cultural, option is a lunch time recital. London is fantastic for lovers of classical music, though it can be expensive. Nonetheless, there are spots around the capital (often churches) where you can listen to a quick fifty minute performance for the price of a little donation.
If you're after the typically British tea and scone, you will have to splash out quite a lot in one of city's famous luxury hotels. There are, though, several wonderful tea shops that are certainly worth the cost (it's not much) and are sure to offer equally fine quality. Take a look round Spitalfields tea room Tea Smith.
For a break on a warm afternoon, you've got to aim for Covent Garden for a top quality Italian ice cream and some easy entertainment in the form of Covent Garden's famous buskers. If you're up near Camden, head for Chalk Farm for a taste of old school Italian ice-creams from Marine Ices.
Lastly, if you fancy a sugar rush, then you've got to go to Mrs Kibble's Olde Sweet Shoppe in Soho, famous throughout London for selling great treats at excellent prices.
It doesn't really matter where you are in London, you're bound to come across a great place to relax for a minute or gather your energies for a further string of sightseeing, and that's why it's such a great tourist destination.
