Windows mobile 6.5 and Android OS are competitors in the mobile phone market, so many consumers are confused to buy which - Windows Mobile 6.5 or Android OS. The following is about comparison of them.
It really depends upon what your usage scenario and Tech comfort level is.
Windows Mobile 6.5 (Handsets expected in the next couple of months)
+ Stable, well established.
+ Thousands of programs available
+ New Interface improves Touch navigation
+ Great sync capability with Exchange and now Google Mobile sync.
+ Variety of Handsets available on all networks
+ Easy to tether, with Internet sharing
+ Easy to hack and great community at XDA-Developer
- Still an old OS, so can be a bit chunky at times
- Interface not completely consistent
- Browser Not as good as Safari, bit Opera and Skyfire provide good alternatives
- Carrier Crippled features on many phones, but pretty easy to hack.
Android OS
+ Linux Based OS. Open Source
+ Very Hackable and Powerful
+ Being updated and Improved at a fast pace
+ Developers exited, and proving interesting Apps
- Limited number of Handsets, more expected Q3
- Power Management issues currently, but may improve
- Interface still not that intuitive and easy to use, especially for non techies.
Overall While the Android OS is most interesting and fastest evolving, the lack of Handsets, and Beta Nature of the OS may not make it ideal for someone who need a stable reliable pone, especially in a corporate environment where WM provides more Stability and security.
