A good way to relieve some stress and commune with nature is hiking. It is an enjoyable outdoor activity that increases your stamina, burns out calories and provides you a sense of well-being after a long hike. Before you go for that hike, however, you must keep things in check and pack all the necessary equipments.
There are different hiking equipments that ensure your safety and protection. A topographic map is the number one equipment a hiker should never forget. Unless you are in a well-populated mountain trail, you will need a detailed map so that you can easily find your way back on the trail. The map should also have details like streams, rivers and the terrain.
Even if you have a map, you can still get lost in your hike. During these situations, a compass would be necessary. With a compass, you can easily get back to the right trail. If you plan to go hiking until night, then bring a flashlight. A flashlight or headlamp will help you bustle through the trail when the last light of day fades out. Make sure to bring extra batteries or an extra bulb just in case the flashlight drains out.
