Foreign scientists have launched a study which shows that, for those people who develop high blood pressure, moderate exercise can alleviate the disease.

The purposes of doing exercise are as follows.
1. Adjust the process of cortical excitation and inhibition to enhance the body’s major systems and neural regulatory functions.

2. Reduce the tension of capillaries, arterioles and small arteries, regulate blood circulation, and lower blood pressure.

3. Lower blood viscosity, increase blood viscosity as well as improving microcirculation and boosting metabolism.

4. Develop the body and blood circulation functions, and improve and restore the body conditions of patients.

5. Reduce the stress response, suppress the physical and mental tension, as well eliminate anxiety.

Have a good idea about the types and ways of exercise, including some Chinese traditional sports.
Patients had better select aerobic exercise, trying to avoid doing exercise like pushing, pulling, lifting and breath holding.

They should choose these kinds of exercises which are systemic, rhythmic, easy to relax and easy to be monitored. Sports that are suitable for the high blood pressure patients include qigong, tai chi, medical gymnastics, fitness jogging, aerobics, swimming, recreational ball games, field trips and fishing and so on.

Qigong
Qigong practitioners have to do exercise at least once a day, lasting 30-45 minutes. It is reported that systolic blood pressure can decrease by 2.1-2.4kPa after each exercise, and diastolic blood pressure also drops. In general, it will take about two weeks to have significant positive effects through practicing Qigong. It is also reported that patients taking lots of drugs to lower high blood pressure do not get good results, but control it by practicing qigong.

Tai chi
As the movements of tai chi are very gentle and facilitate to relax the muscles, it is very helpful for lowering high blood pressure. The systolic blood pressure will drop 1.3-2.7kPa (10.20mmHg) after patients with hypertension finish a set of simplifies tai chi. The systolic blood pressure of long-term practitioners is lower about 2.7kPa than the peers.

Walk regularly
Walk 70-90 steps per minutes, that is to walk 3-4km per hour. Patients should keep it at least 10 minutes. This speed standard is mainly made for those who do not cultivate habits of exercising, regarded as adaptive training process. The patients can gradually speed up in later movement.

Fitness jogging
Patients must have s ECG exercise test to check the reactivity of heart function and blood pressure before engaging in fitness jogging. It dose not require a certain speed for high blood pressure when jogging, patients should check for themselves whether they have dizziness, headache, palpitation, shortness of breath, fatigue and other symptoms.

Self-massage
It is good way to lower high blood pressure for patient through self-massage. For one thing, self-massage can keep patients relaxed, for another thing, it can help patients eliminate the symptoms of high blood pressure.
