The very first thing thought of as people come down the glitzy, spectacularly lit Vegas strip is first and foremost; gambling. Maybe alcohol and gambling but still generally it's the chance to strike it rich which is foremost in people's minds. However, Vegas has more than just the chance at fortune to offer. Experiences such as breath taking shows have also become famous in Las Vegas. Amidst all the awe in Las Vegas it can be easy to forget that it is also a great place to laugh at some of the most varied, world class comedy shows.
For a traditional stand up comedic experience Frank Caliendo's show at the Monte Carlo is a great choice. A former cast member of mad TV, Caliendo is an experienced comedian. Caliendo is a master impressionist, mimicking celebrities such as George Bush and John Madden so perfectly it's like those people have stepped on stage. Tickets for Caliendo's show run about 60 dollars at the Monte Carlo, daily, except for Sundays and Mondays.
A significantly less traditional comedy show is the Amazing Johnathan's show. A combination of magic and dark comedy, the Amazing Johnathan has been dubbed the "Freddy Krueger of comedy magic." The Amazing Johnathan isn't afraid to make jokes based on drug abuse or his own possible insanity as he attempts and usually fails at a variety of magic tricks with the help of his seemingly mentally incompetent assistant. The Amazing Johnathan is also a master of slap stick comedy with supposed magical antics that usually end with him being injured in some way or another. Tickets to see the Amazing Johnathan are around 70 dollars and up at Planet Hollywood.
For a completely unique show which is one part comedy show, one part music performance and one part performance art. The blue man is a trio of blue-hued men dressed in simple black clothes, unlike the normal trappings of a Vegas show. Their 90 minute show will make you laugh and illicit deep thought with their unorthodox show. Tickets for the Blue Man Group run a little over a hundred dollars at the Venetian. The show is ongoing but isn't held on Feb. 6 and May 26.
There of plenty of other comedy shows in Las Vegas that will appeal to nearly any audience. Of course with all Vegas shows it is suggested that all tickets should be reserved well in advance before the time of the show. Ticket prices may also vary depending on when you purchase your ticket and how close the venue is to sold-out status.
