Winter is a miserable time of year for some people; the weather doesn’t help matters as being cold tends to put most people in a poor mood.  Our homes are thought of as a safe haven from the cold outside with many of us reluctant to leave the warmth of our own bed in the morning during winter.  This is great but for some people the cold can even get into their homes and leave them huddled round the fire or hugging the nearest radiator for a bit of warmth. Why are some people in this situation? Surely they aren’t sitting at home with their windows and doors open?  Of course they aren’t but to some extent their windows are in fact open, because they are not double glazed.  Double glazing prevents the cold air outside being able to enter your home, as well as keeping any warm air from fires and central heating inside your home to keep you warm. The way it works is that single panes of glass absorb the cold air from outside making them cold to touch and often causing condensation.  This transfers through to your home and cools the air.  To combat this many people will put the fire or central heating on, this can help warm your home up but has one fundamental flaw, the cold air is still getting in via your windows and you’ll need to keep your heating on for longer and possibly set to a higher temperature too. Considering many people complain about how their energy bills are too high then this is one area which you could be able to save some money by getting double glazing fitted in your home.  The layer of air trapped between the two panes of glass acts as an insulator, much like we see in lofts and between walls.  The insulator blocks the cold air and retains the warm air inside, making your home feel warmer and best of all costing you less. The cost of getting double glazing apart from being less than the cost you’ll be spending in heating bills without it there are also lots of deals and offers on that make the prospect of getting double glazing fitted much more appealing.  Many fitters use the newer uPVC material which makes the frames much more durable and requires less maintenance too.  With all the offers currently on you should check out the deals available now! Don’t be left in the cold this winter get double glazing in Bolton and the surrounding area or perhaps conservatories in Manchester and the surrounding area if you want to add some space to your home
