Local mining and quarrying equipment supplier Osborn has completed a challenging project at the new Xstrata Lion smelter, at Steel-poort. The Johannesburg-based materials handling and minerals processing specialist designed, fabricated, transported and erected a complete new recovery crushing plant for Xstrata Alloys.

Five robust, high-quality Osborn machines have been installed in the new plant. These include a 44H Gyra-sphere cone crusher, a double-deck vibrating screen, an Osborn vibrating grizzly feeder and two Osborn Obex pan feeders. The mine was supplied a refur-bished Osborn Hadfields 3625 double-toggle jaw crusher.

The project featured an excep- tionally tight completion pro-gramme, notes Osborn marketing manager Martin Botha. Having netted this order on the basis of our seamless customer service, and our machines quality and durability, we rose to the challenge, and completed this testing undertaking on schedule, in less than five months, he says.

Osborn has a nationwide distribution network with sales staff working out of branches in Cape Town, Richards Bay, Durban, Witbank and Welkom. Additional countrywide and international distributions are handled by agents in Cape Town, Rustenburg, Witbank, Kimberley, Kenya, Tanzania, Ghana and Nigeria.Osborn has established licence agreements with international principals such as Telsmith and American Pulverizer, in the US, Mogensen, in the UK, and IFE, in Austria. In association with international principles and its network of agents and distributors, Osborn supplies local and export mining, quarrying and industrial markets across Africa.

Employing over 220 people, Osborn specialises in mobile and fixed crushing and screening plants and conveyor systems. Osborn has achieved OHSAS 18000 system certification for occupational health and safety management.

This application of refining plant in crushing equipment drives crusher market prosper continuously.
