People who want to pursue further studies are required to take the Graduate Management Admission Test, or GMAT. Passing this exam is extremely crucial; colleges require this examination before they allow people to enroll in a Master’s degree. As such, knowing the procedures in GMAT practice exams is important to pass it without any added trouble.

Analytical thinking is the first component of a GMAT. The examinee is asked to analyze and interpret an argument through an essay. There are usually two sets of essays to answer which are evaluated separately. One is done through manual checking, while the other is done through a machine. The score range is 0-6; 0 being the lowest and 6 being the highest.

Quantitative examination is the second component of a GMAT. It is done through answering a series of multiple choice questions within a period of 75 minutes. There are a total of 37 questions that are divided into two types: problem solving and information sufficiency. The maximum score for this component is 60 points. Several people review in advance and take a GMAT online practice test to prepare and sharpen their abilities.

Verbal section is the next component of a GMAT. The examinee is required to answer 41 questions that are divided into three categories: sentence correction, vital reasoning and reading comprehension. Sentence correction is done to test the examinee’s knowledge in proper grammar and sentence construction. Vital reasoning is making a concrete argument based on a given scenario. Reading comprehension is done by reading a text or passage and then answering a series of question pertaining to the text. The examinee’s ability to understand what he reads and the amount of information he can hold are tested in this part of the GMAT.

Different colleges have their own bases on determining the passing rate. Some colleges do not show the passing mark; instead, they display the median score of the last batch of examinees. As such, some people think those scores are indeed the standard for the exam. In other elite colleges, an average score of 600 to 700 out of 800 is set.

Listed above are only a few components that examinees must expect in a GMAT. The GMAT is important for those wishing to pursue advanced learning in their fields. Being proactive and looking for other ways to maximize studying such as taking a GMAT online test may also bring a positive outcome.
