Like our dressing sense and image presentation skills, handwriting is another face of presenting ourselves. It expresses the culture and civilization and all the characters of a person. Irrespective of good or bad, handwriting is a source of attraction towards the contents of letter. The primary part of any communication and relationship with others is presentation and primary part of presentation is legible and beautiful handwriting. A handwriting may be good or bad, but this should be neat and clean so that a person can understand that. A handwriting is as important in this digital world as a good computer.
Only practicing writing on paper can improve handwriting of a person. If nothing else, writing a long letter or outlining your next project can give your mouse hand a rest and stave off carpal tunnel syndrome a little while longer. Writing uses different muscles in your hands than typing and can break up a series of repetitive actions: consider handwriting to be a stretching exercise. Moreover, writing out on papers can improve the focus of the children. Every letter is a particular design. So while putting those letters on papers, we become conscious of how to best to arrange them on paper. The Computer lacks this particular exercise, because while typing something, we just press on certain buttons.
Many people don’t consider handwriting as an essential skill to nurture among children. The reason behind this is the growing importance of the digital technology. Previously, different official documents were managed in the form of paper files, but now everything can be stored into a computer and also for a longer period of time. Nonetheless, the skill of handwriting is still somewhat important. There’s evidence that children who write better and faster get better grades. Handwriting engages the fine motor muscles to work. Parents and teachers can sometime face grave difficulties to cultivate good handwriting skills among children who have trouble with fine motor tasks. To improve handwriting, the first thing parents need to understand that children get attracted towards only those things which can generate their interest. So writing can be a fun filled activity if parents can provide crayons, designer pencils and good quality notebooks to their children. Drawing and puzzles are a great way of encouraging good handwriting.
Common handwriting problems constitute four main areas: letter formation, sizing, spaces between words, and line-alignment. Parents need to focus on the child's practice on the letters or concepts that challenge the kid and make sure that the child is using two hands to control the paper.
Much of the handwriting neatness depends upon the pencil or pen that the child is using. In the initial stages, children should be given pencils to practice letters. After the child become avid writer, parents can give them pens to write. It is said that those who generally use fountain pens, display a good handwriting skills. A foggy mirror, patch of mud, or bowl of leftover sauce make great surfaces. Whether the child's practicing with the fingers, a stick, or a pencil, inspiring the child’s creativity will definitely lend appeal to writing.
