Research shows that a clean mouth is directly related to how a body functions. There are some internal diseases that can be determined through the mouth. The mouth is also known to cause diseases outside the oral cavity. This gives rise to the awareness of people in oral hygiene.
Aside from the boost in health that a clean mouth can bring, it also gives the person the confidence of having a beautiful-looking smile. Some say that the smile is the best piece of accessory that anyone can have.
Below are some tips to have whiter teeth.
These are based from research and explanations done by dentists.
First, try to go on a white teeth diet. What most people do not know is dark-colored food has high chances of staining the teeth. They contain enzymes that are easily secreted to the teeth and stay there if not immediately brushed off. Worse than dark-colored food are dark water beverages. Drinking red wine, coffee, dark juices and colas are sure ways of staining the teeth.
Smoking also stains the teeth even if it is only gas. One of the best ways to fix this is to ingest light-colored food and drinks. Brush immediately after eating and use different cleaning methods. If possible, eat an apple. Aside from keeping the doctor away, an apple is known as a “natural” toothbrush. Experts in las vegas dentistry suggest that apples have the tough texture that cleans the teeth and the juice to wash away sediments.
The second tip is more obvious. Changing toothbrushes at least every two months is essential. Some las vegas dentistry professionals will tell their patients that a toothbrush that is being used for more than two months is ineffective in cleaning bacteria because they are already stuck in the bristles. Brushing with it will only transfer the bacteria back into the mouth. According to studies, the best way to brush the teeth is to place the toothbrush in a 45-degree angle from the gums and gently brush the teeth in a circular motion. This gives a more thorough cleaning. Gripping the handle too much does not help because bruising of the gums may happen. Hold the grip of the toothbrush with the same grip that a person uses when holding a pencil.
Finally, do not forget to clean the tongue. There is a common misconception that the teeth should only be brushed and the gargle of mouthwash is done to clean the tongue. This is entirely untrue. The proper way to clean the tongue is with a tongue scraper. According to a las vegas dentistry expert, this is a much better method than brushing the tongue with a toothbrush.
