Greenhouse Gasses are such gasses in the environment that absorbs and emits rays within the range of thermic infrared radiation. The main gases in the Earth's atmosphere are:-

• Water vapor
• Carbon dioxide
• Methane
• Nitrous oxide
• Ozone

These gases, to a great extent, have an effect on the Earth’s temperature; in their absence, the surface of the Earth would be on the average of 33 °C or 59 °F colder than now.

Increase of Atmospheric Levels

Numerous vital Greenhouse gasses’ levels have been raised by approximately 25% from the time when the development of industry on an extensive scale had begun around 150 years ago. From the last 20 years, around three-quarters of man-made carbon dioxide emissions are from burning of fossil fuels. Imbalance of Earth’s atmosphere-emissions and absorption results in the continuous growth of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

Effect of Greenhouse Gases on Climate Change

It is hard to find out the degree of alteration that human beings lay and what their effect are on climate change. Mounting concentrations of greenhouse gases normally generate a raise in the average of Earth’s temperature. However, growing temperatures may possibly, in turn, make some sort of changes in atmospheric condition, water level, and land use patterns, which is universally known as climate change. Yet, there is vagueness regarding how the weather changes naturally and responds to emissions of these gases. To have improvements in dropping these doubts in projections of future climate, there is a need to have enhanced alertness and knowledge of the upsurge of gases in the environment and the conduct of the environmental condition.

Sources of Greenhouse Gases

Mostly, greenhouse gases are produced from energy use. The main sources of these gases are:

• Growth of industrialization.
• Fuel used for electricity generation
• Weather patterns affecting heating and cooling needs

Energy-associated with the emission of carbon dioxide resulting from natural gas and petroleum signify 82% of total man-made greenhouse gas emissions only in USA.

Prospect for Future Emissions

Universal carbon dioxide emissions are probable to increase by 1.9% every twelve months within the year of 2001 to 2025. Due to the rising economies, for example India & China and fuel economic growth with fossil energy, there is full probability of enlargement in the emission of greenhouse gases to take place in these growing countries. Emissions produced from the developing countries are predictable to increase above the world average at 2.7% per year within 2001 to 2025; and excel emissions of developed countries by 2018.
