When children are young they seem to require more self confidence. Because they receive more criticism from the adults which may develop a poor self image when the criticism exceeds the encouragement and lead to self depression. It is very important to pay much attention to the children about their self confidence. As a parent or a teacher, it is your responsibility to help children build up their self confidence.

Show your respect and trust children. Believe and respect them. The children show a natural curiosity, you can encourage them to do some capable things independently, try and quest new things, give enough attention and praise, don’t strike and say ironic remarks. If they do something wrong, avoid to scold them, just guide them to find the solution or tell them the right method. These will strengthen their own capability and make them feel worthy and valuable to the family which is a good way to help children build up self confidence.

Set a goal which the children can achieve. If the parents’ wishes are too high, the goal is hard to achieve which surpass the children limit will cause children a feeling of failure, loose heart. But cannot orient the goal too low, otherwise, the children will complete it easily and become levity and full of himself. Don’t miser your praise, certain their advantages and good aspect.

Be a good role model. Set an example by your own action and set up a mirror for the children. Parents are seemed as the mirror to children. They always imitate to do as you do. Hence if you suffer from poor self confidence, it will be difficult to help your children develop it as well. If you face this problem, work on improving yourself first before expecting your children to be high self confidence.

Be aware of children special talent and help them to build and grow from them. If they running especially well, praise them. If they have a drawing talent, encourage them to build that talent. Build up their special talent, there is a competitive advantage and a motivated power for them; they will be more and more self confidence.
