Blackpool can be found situated inthe county of Lancashire along the coast of the Irish Sea and is ideal for ashort break, family holiday or even a rowdy hen or stag party. With so many hotels , inns, b&b's and guest houses to choose from; Blackpoolhas something for everybody.  As the summer season winds down, theBlackpool Illuminations start and are considered to be the greatest free lightshow on earth with millions of visitors coming to Blackpool each year towitness the spectacular Illuminations. Blackpool Illuminations began aspart of Blackpool's attractions in 1879 where they were originally just eightarc lamp stands that lined the promenade and were described as "ArtificialSunshine".  These days Blackpool's hi-tec Illuminations excite theresort visitors with the most popular night being the "Big Switch On". On the first night of theIlluminations you will literally see thousands of people turning up to witnessthe spectacle.  Most visitors enjoy the lights by car, coach, bus or opentop tram.  Or if you are romancing your sweetheart, why not take a ride ina horse drawn carriage? Blackpool has some of the toppyrotechnic experts who show their skills to the thousands of people whodescent onto the Promenade to witness this extravaganza.  Don't miss theend of season fireworks display every November at the Pleasure Beach. Getting here is easily accessiblefrom all parts of Great Britain with the M55 linking the town with the M6 andthe country's motorway network. Blackpool also has its own internationalairport and a regular train service.  It is also conveniently located tosome of the major ferry ports. Blackpool is a town bursting withexciting possibilities from the death defying rollercoaster's to the worldclass shows and boasts a multitude of multicultural restaurants to tickle themost fickle of taste buds. Visitors can hop on a tram for atrip between the piers stretching from Squires Gate through Cleveleys and on toFleetwood.  During the Illuminations, circular tours of the seafront canbe enjoyed on special trams. It's a nostalgic trip back in time to experience howour ancestors enjoyed the experience that is Blackpool. The most popular attraction isBlackpool Pleasure Beach which has over 125 rides and is home to the tallest, fastest rollercoaster in Europe.  The new ride Infusion a white-knuckleride and is nor for the faint hearted. For the little ones cruises aroundthe River Caves and Alice's Wonderland offer a more sedate experience. Beaver Creek Theme Park is home to Bradley Beaver and his very own LogFlume.  There is also Pleasure Beach Arena which is the perfect place tolearn to skate.  Other attractions include the underwater world aquariumand Jungle Jims Adventure Land to name a few.  If you buy a wristband atany ticket office in the park you can enjoy all the attractions as many timesas you dare and get a free matinee show. When thinking Blackpool one iconthat sticks out is the "Blackpool Tower" which has massive historicalsignificance.  It has entertained guests for many years and has fivefloors of entertainment to choose from.  Why not take afternoon tea in thefamous Tower Ballrooms and return in the evening for a night of fabulousentertainment.  For those closet ballroom dancers, relax and show of yourfancy footwork. The above mentioned attractions arebut the tip of the iceberg, Blackpool is known as the fun capital of Britainfor good reason so why not book up and experience, great hospitality, and goexperience the whirlwind of fun that is Blackpool for yourself.
