From petrol for cars to home electricity bills we’re quickly finding that our bills are going up, even if we’re being mindful of our usage. It seems unfair but we are not completely helpless to this rise as there are ways we can cut down on our usage without having to scrimp and save to afford a hot bath once in a while. A lot of these ways are just small measures that can all add up to make your home more economical but also keep your money in your pocket and not being spent on endless bills.Double glazing is one of the most popular methods of heat loss prevention in UK homes. Many older homes and buildings in the UK have single paned windows which can lose heat quickly, especially during the colder months. As well as allowing the heat out they are also unsecure and can look dated these days.Modern double glazed windows are much more secure as many have the new uPVC window frames which are solid and weatherproof. Windows and door frames made from this material are incredibly secure and have elaborate locking mechanisms built in. Double glazing uses a layer of air between two panes of glass to act as insulation, meaning the warm air inside stays in the room and the cold air stays outside. This means that during the winter some people will have closed curtains or blinds to keep the cold sensation of the windows creeping inside the house, with double glazed windows you will be able to keep the curtains open during the colder months with little worry. It is estimated that once you get double glazing that your gas and electricity bills will come down as it will take less time to heat a room but the heat will also stay in the room for longer too. This means you’ll be using central heating and fires much less, with further home improvements you can conserve even more heat such as cavity wall insulation and loft insulation rolls. With the current financial crisis as well as rising costs of commodities like gas, electricity and water we need to start being more energy conscious to make sure that we get the most from our money but also have enough money to enjoy ourselves. Double glazing can add class and style to a home and is a great way of cutting back on your energy bills each month which can quickly mount up. Shop online to find the best double glazing quotes around and you will see just how much money you can save. Make sure it is a high quality make though or you could end up losing value on your home.
