Winter is the dreadful time of the year since the skin dries up and looks unhealthy. Winter air sucks up the essential moisture out of your skin and tends to make it dry, and if not taken care immediately, it becomes flaky and unpleasant. Men have more of a problem since they don’t care much for their skin throughout the year. This leads to havoc on their skin during the colder months. Beside this, there are some, who can’t keep their hands off getting the best mens skincare products or even trying out some natural remedies to retain a healthy skin and charming look.
Here are tips for winter skin care that all men should know. These tips are designed with men in mind to help keep our skin looking healthy during the winter months. Men’s skin is approximately 15% oilier than women’s, with much larger pores that are prone to trapping dirt. So no matter what you think your skin type is, wash your face every day and be sure to include your neck.
Firstly start with adding almond oil to your bath water and soak in the water for few minutes. This will ensure that you are able to moisturize your skin. Wintry days and nights take away your skin’s natural moisture. When outside, cover your exposed skin from the harsh cold wind. Even if you wear gloves, it is good to moisturize your hands before putting them on. So, use a good moisturizer to retain the skin’s need for staying moisturized. Aloe Vera gel is a good moisturizer. It is also acts as a healing agent against wounds, cuts and burns and is a good remedy for skin dryness.
Shaving becomes irritating during the winter months as the hair gets thicker and it causes a lot of pain. To avoid the pain, massage some oil or cream on your face for a few minutes, before shaving off the hair. After shaving, use some Vitamin E oil, which can also be found in many aftershave moisturizing lotions. Most aftershave lotions or balms contain moisturizing ingredients so these work well. Just make sure you use it sparingly and avoid the aftershaves that have SD alcohol as an ingredient. These will dry your face out and make things worse. The vitamin E oil works greatly to prevent razor burn and the tingly stinging feeling that sometimes comes after shaving before leaving the house on a winter morning.
Whenever, you are step out in the sun, remember to mask your face with a sunscreen lotion with SPF 15. Even though, the sun isn’t as scorching as it is in summers, still it can cause adverse damage to your skin. Sunscreen will keep your skin youthful and fresh as it is.
Usually lips suffer most during the winter season. Lips get sore and chapped. You should use a lip balm to keep the lips moisturized and prevent them from drying out. A lip balm with sunscreen protection factor of at least 15 is always preferable to protect your lips from cold as well as warm weathers. Drink plentiful water to keep your skin hydrated, soft and glowing.
Winter is harsh on the skin. There is no getting around this fact. So do your best in protecting and treating your skin right and follow the tips of skin care for men. Be smart about your skin and you’ll keep looking handsome and healthy all year long.
