What is the Skycaddie SGX?

TheSkyCaddie SGX is the newest addition to the family of rangefinders manufactured by the Skygolf group. The company believes in inspiring existing golfers to have fun with the game and also add new players to the fraternity by proving that the game can be played comfortably on the field with the help of this device.

Introduction into the market

Skygolf announced the advent of this product in January 2010 at the PGA Merchandize show at Orange County in Orlando. It was released into the market in May. Those who have already bought the product cannot stop gushing about it. And those who have not are mighty curious about it.

How much does it cost?

Before explaining how the SkyCaddie SGX works one must know how much it costs. The Skygolf group has priced it at £399. Although this may sound like a large sum for a rangefinder, once you are familiar with the features available on it, you will know that spending that amount on a Skycaddie SGX is worth every penny!

Is it worth the money?

As a true golf enthusiast, one would say, yes. Not only is it a rangefinder, but it also incorporates some additional features which make the game of golf an extremely entertaining sport.

The dual navigation feature on this device allows the user to function on the touch screen using only one hand. There is no chance of reduced visibility of the display due to finger smudges or fat touches!

It is designed on the lines of the Apple iPhone 3GS. Its TruePoint Precision Positioning Technology allows the device to catch the nearest satellite to determine the GPS of the player. The Intelligreen feature of a SkyCaddie SGX brings the greens into 3D perspective revealing the contours, distances and options available for thep layer to move on the field to get his best shot. This reduces the putts to a large extent.

Its Holevue feature provides precise distance of a point on the hole to the player so that he can prepare his strategy for the next swing.

All these features make this device illegal for professional golf games. But the USGA permits amateur golfers to use it locally. Hence, enhance the experience of your next game by treating yourself to a SkyCaddie SGX.
