How to convert high definition movies to iPhone 4

Taking your high definition movies usually requires a laptop or high definition player--unless you convert them to a movie format that is compatible with your iPhone . Watching a movie on your iPhone is a great alternative and converting those movies is fast and easy.

Step 1
Choose a video conversion program that is compatible with the high definition format of your disc as well as MPEG-4 and H-264 that both work with your iPhone 4.

Step 2
Load the software onto your computer and open the program. Under "Options" or "Preferences," you'll find the format options selection tool. For smaller, faster converting movies, select "MPEG-4." If you wish to keep the movie in a closer to high definition format, select "H-264." When asked to select the video size click "640 by 480 or smaller."

Step 3
Insert the high definition movie into the compatible drive on your computer. Drag the movie onto the software window or click "Add" to open an explorer window that you can browse to the file from.

Step 4
Click "Convert" to begin the conversion process. Total time to convert the movie depends on the speed of your computer, length of the movie and format you're converting too. Open iTunes once the conversion is complete and import the file. iTunes recognizes both the Mpeg-4 and H-264 format and imports them based on your personal settings.

Step 5
Connect your iPhone to the computer and click the "Movies" tab. Check the box that corresponds with the movie and click on the "Sync" or "Update" button.
