I came across this very problem when I was trying to edit some videos recorded during the past Thanksgiving holiday in iMovie. I am using a JVC GZ-MG130 Hard drive based camcorder and when I tried to import the videos into iMovie for editing, I failed. After the first searching, I found out that iMovie couldn't interface with my camera, which uses a USB interface. Considering Christmas is approaching and I will also record many wonderful moments to keep the sweet memory of Christmas, thus video editing comes necessary once again. So I decide to learn something about iMovie and found the best solution once for all
So some searching came up with the solution to this problem.
iMovie is a proprietary video editing software application which allows Mac, iPod Touch 4th generation and iPhone 4 users to edit their own home videos. Since version 3, iMovie has been a Mac OS only application and it imports video footage to Mac using the FireWire interface on most MiniDV format digital video cameras or by importing the files from a hard drive. No wonder that iMovie couldn't interface with my JVC camcorder as it does on a Firewire one, because JVC uses a USB interface. I also learnt that I can have a content video editing with iMovie, for example, I can edit the video clips, add titles, add music and the effects include basic color correction and video enhancement tools as well as transitions such as fade-in, fade-out and slides.
So I decide to load the videos on my PC firstly and then import the videos into iMovie form computer. However, iMovie supports limited video formats, such as 3GP, AVI, DAT, MP4 and MPG. So I have to convert my MOD videos to any of those supported formats. Then a MOD video converter comes as a necessity for me to import the videos to iMovie.
Then I searched on the internet for a right MOD converter, frankly speaking, it was really a hard job to get a qualified cost-effective MOD converter from the large amount of products of different brands. Luckily, I have a successful searching end with Leawo MOD Converter. I have downloaded a trail version of it to have a try and found it really a powerful MOD converter which can convert between all popular video formats. So I can use it to convert MOD to AVI, convert MOD to MPEG, convert MOD to MPG, convert MOD to MOV, convert MOD to MP4, etc, I can even do some video editing of the MOD file with the powerful editing functions (Crop, Trim, Effect and Watermark).
This MOD converter also has both Win version and Mac version, both of which has trial version. What's more, Leawo has opened Christmas promotion and offered ultra low discount for all its products including MOD converter. Since I am using Mac OS, I have decided to buy a Mac version of this MOD converter, taking advantage of this golden promotion chance.
I believed that with this MOD converter I can have a free enjoyment of my recorded videos through converting the MOD videos to other formats for video editing or playback on the popular portable devices. So, if you are in the same situation with me, you can also try this method with this MOD converter, I bet you will also have a light-hearted video editing and playing experience with your recorded MOD videos. Just have fun!
