How to Repair the Optical Drive of a DVD RAM in an HP Pavilion DV 8305 Laptop
Technically, you can not repair the optical drive of a DVD ROM in an HP Pavilion DV 8305 laptop or any other optical drive for that matter. The parts are not available and if they can be found, the repair will end up costing more than simply replacing the DVD ROM. Before deciding to replace the device you might first want to try cleaning the optical lens to see if this solves the problem, if not, it is time to replace the DVD drive, a process that takes about 20 minutes. When replacing a DVD drive you must first purchase the drive made for your make and model of computer. You can find this type of drive at a local computer accessory shop or online at a website like Geeks, New Egg, or eBay.
