One I idea I have about Christmas is that the majority of people haven't realized yet the real meaning of the proverb 'time is money'. Yes, it states that we should esteem time just like we esteem money, but the lesson doesn't end here: it also states that time is LITERALLY money. Using your step sagely is the step you must accomplish in order to spend less money every holiday season.
What am I precisely intending to say? If we take a look at the calendar, today is November 10th, which means the Christmas night will arrive in more than a month. It's a lot of time, isn't it? I once discussed this issue in my weblog - Prendas de Natal - and my response is more careful: 44 days is a lot it depending on your attitude.
The most important thing in saving money is planning, and people frequently ignore this. Why? I'll furnish you 4 reasons:
1- Looking for ideas in the beginning of November is the best thing you can do, and here's why: this way, you can easily avoid dangerous precipitate decisions, and 'desperate purchases' (i.e., last minute purchases) are a halfway to bad gifts...
2- With a accurate control of your time, you'll be able to make price comparisons and buy cheaper. If you buy in a hurry you merely don't have time for such thing, and the result is obvious: you might be buying more expensive that your actually could.
3- Every store increases its prices during December. And the interesting thing is that you buy anyway, when (if you had done an early planning) you could have bought the same thing in November, with a lower price.
4- If the main part of people leave their Christmas' shopping to the last weeks, the shopping become completely full of desperate buyers - logically!. And with so many sales, stock ruptures are a real danger. This can cause the need of thinking of another gift, and we already know that last minute purchases aren't the best scenario.
So don't forget: time is the key to success! Use it prudently and save up your money. (If you want more tips about Christmas, check out my blog again: Presentes Para Natal).
