Step 1
Go to the Windows Live Messenger website (see Resources below). On the right side of the page, you will see a "Download Now" button for the latest version of MSN Messenger. Click on this link.

Step 2
You will be redirected to a new page with download instructions. A window will pop up that will prompt you to save or run the new Windows Messenger program. Click the "Run" button. Note: Depending on your operating system, the "Run" button may not appear. If this is the case, save the file to your desktop and then double-click on it to launch the installer. A window will pop-up with a list of several programs you can install.

Step 3
Check the boxes next to any programs you want to install. These programs are unrelated to MSN Messenger, so this is purely voluntary. Under the list of programs, you will see an "Updated Programs" list. MSN Messenger should appear there. Click the "Install" button.

Step 4
A status bar will pop up while the updates are being installed. if you have Messenger still running, you will be prompted to close it during this part of the process. Once the status bar is full, your MSN Messenger has been updated. Restart your computer to complete the process.
