How to Use AA Batteries in a Your Camcorder

Most lightweight camcorders use rechargeable batteries such as nickel cadmium or nickel metal hydride batteries, and are the same size as regular AA batteries. Camcorders consume a lot of energy, which means if you use regular alkaline batteries, you constantly need to replace them, which is expensive. However, it is sensible to have some regular AA batteries in your camcorder case as a backup if your rechargeable SAMSUNG SB-L110A Camcorder Battery go dead, and you are unable to recharge them.

Flip open or slide the battery cover on your camcorder so you can access the existing batteries. Most battery covers have a clip you move using your fingers to flip the cover open. Others you need to slide open using your fingers. If you find that the battery cover has a small Phillips head screw holding the cover in place, then unscrew it using a Phillips head screwdriver.

Turn over your camcorder so the HITACHI ZV-1A camcorder battery slide out of the battery compartment. Put them inside a pocket in the camcorder case until you can recharge them.

Insert the AA batteries into the battery compartment. It is important you insert them the correct way, so look at the back of the battery cover, or down the inside of the battery compartment, to see which way they should be inserted. You see "+" for positive and "-" for negative embossed on the cover, or down the inside of the battery compartment. The AA batteries also have the same signs on the side of the battery.

Close the battery cover by pushing it into place using your fingers until it clicks, or slide the cover back into place. If it is held in place with a screw, then replace the screw and tighten it using a Phillips head screwdriver. Remember to charge the batteries you removed as soon as possible as AA alkaline batteries don't last long.
