You have a lot of things on your iPhone. Email, documents, pictures, and lots more. To keep that data safeyou may want to password protect your iPhoneto keep others out. You can even factory reset your iPhoneafter a given number of failed password attempts. While it won't soften the blow of a lost iPhone, at least you'll know your data, passwords and email are safe.
- On your iPhone tap on Settings.
- In Settings tap on General.

- In General tap on Passcode Lockwhich is Off by default.
- You're then prompted to enter a 4 digit passcode and then to re-enter it.
- The two passcodes must match.
- Now you'll see that the Passcode is setto come on Immediately. Tap that and you get a dialog that lets you change the time interval.
- There's also an option to Erase Data.
- If you tap that you're prompted to Enable the function.
- Remember that if you put in your passcode incorrectly 10 times your iPhone will be wiped!
