WARNING: GET YOUR PUBLISHER TO GIVE YOU YOUR ISBN IN YOUR OWN NAME!
Marketing your book
These days, average bookstore shelf life is just four months – unless you publicise!
How can you approach a distributor or store if the book is not registered in your own name. You can not sell anything that is not in your name.
Successful Self Published Authors started with a plan.
Have you got one?
Here are a few helpful tips:
1. Start a social networking group
(Facebook, Twitter, Myspace etc.)
Visit:

www.twitter.com
http://groups.myspace.com/
2. Start your own website
(visit www.loveofbooks1.com for website creation info)
3. Have you already got a website?
Generate traffic to your new Website. Having a website is only part of the process. You will need to implement SEO.
4. Organise a press release
If you already have some claim to fame, however obscure, think about how you can use it!
What makes you different and newsworthy?
Can you turn some challenging part of your job or life into a story?
Have you overcome some adversity to write the book?
Is the book a long-promised dream or undertaking? Offbeat stories about authors can make the news at the local level.
5. Work out what media attention you need: relevant to your book theme, location etc.
Check out the distribution list attached in this package.
6. Check out amazon.com for listing your book. Amazon is the largest online bookstore boasting millions of book sales annually.
To properly list your book with Amazon, you must go through the Amazon Advantage page to register. To do this, click on the following Amazon link: http://advantage.amazon.com/gp/vendor/public/join-advantage-books
7. Organise a book launch
Visit local book stores and show them what you’ve got = a fantastic sellable book. Retailers love to have promotional events and book signings are an easy way for them to generate excitement in the store. Ask if your book signing can be promoted through their internal mailing list. If you have sponsors, ask them to help provide a venue for your launch. Need help boosting your confidence? Visit the attached contact and communication page.
8. Promote your book online with Google https://books.google.com
Promote your books on Google for free.
You would sell a lot more books if a lot more people knew about them. We can help make that happen.
Help users discover your books by matching the content in your books with user searches, Google Books connects your books with the users who are most interested in buying them.
Keep your content protected.
Users are able to preview a limited number of pages to determine whether they have found what they are looking for.
Drive book sales.
Links to bookstores, online retailers and your website make it easy for users to go from browsing to buying – with new ways of buying and accessing your books coming soon.
9. Web Casting
Web casting is a fairly new and fast evolving technology. Basically, it’s radio broadcasting over the world-wide web. Try You Tube www.youtube.com
