Mendham, NJ, 23-November-2011 - Insurance South Africa is announcing that all consumers should have their household insurance policy reviewed. This is because South Africa was experiencing an economic boom until recently and most households contain more possessions than they did when the policy was purchased. This coupled with the current economic downturn could mean financial disaster in the event of an untoward occurrence.
Many consumers are tempted to cancel their policies in order to save some money each month. However, this would be pure folly as most could not even replace half of their possessions in the event of a disaster. To cancel cover would leave most consumers in a financially vulnerable position that would be untenable if they experienced a loss.
Rather than cancel cover, it is recommended that consumers take an inventory of their belongings and shop around among different providers to get the best rates on a policy that would provide them with adequate cover to replace possessions lost in the case of a claim.
