We cannot underestimate the power of the Internet as an obscure Chinese character became quite hot on it overnight. "烎" has replaced "囧" and "槑" to become the hottest network language on the Internet in China. The word slided into the major BBS communities in China and took the fancy of internet users quickly in the past few days. Then what does the character mean? Are there any differences between its original meaning and its meanings when used by netizens? The original meaning of the character is "bightness". However, Chinese netizens use it to describe a person who has high morale and is ambitious or valiant. The word originated from a playing team called "烎". The team participated in IEST Master tour, a game competion held by Lenovo Ltd. In the preliminary contest, the team threw down the gauntlet to a team called "ehome"——the double winner of WOG and EOG. Though they have failed the competition, their spirit is remembered and the character is becoming popular. Pronounced as "yin", the character can be separated into two singal characters:"开" and "火". When put toghther, they mean that "Fire" or "Open fire". There can be no more suitable words that can express one's ambition or morale to do something. There are even "烎" T-shirts. Many sharp-sighted businessmen has noticed such kind of "culture". They definitely won't miss a good opportunity to make a killing and began to design T-shirts with "烎" as the key element on the shirts. It's believed that there will be many other "烎"-oriented products soon in the market. Internet buzzwords, have you used them today?
