iPhone 4 Death Grip Increases Radiation Levels

Steve Jobs took the stage last month in a effort to calm things down on the iPhone 4 antenna issue. He based his argument in one simple statement. “Phones aren’t perfect. All smartphones display the same signal loss issue,” Jobs said. Apple presented multiple videos demonstrating similar antenna issues with other smartphones on the market.

Tawkon is an application that measures radiation from a cell phone in different conditions. “Tawkon monitors and analyzes your real-time mobile phone radiation as a function of dynamic SAR (specific absorption rate) levels, environmental conditions and phone usage,” the company says. The purpose of Tawkon’s app is to provide the user with an indication—or “prediction” as they call it—of the radiation level being emitted by the iPhone.

This level changes based on environmental conditions, distance from cell towers, and even the manner in which the device is held. The application is not approved by Apple yet. Tawkon posted a video showing readings they got from the cell phones when the device is gripped. The video can be found below. Is this another proof that Jobs was right when said “All smartphones display the same signal loss issue”?
