The evolution in the field of book publishing has given me little option than to provide interested parties with a review of the Amazon Kindle. It is hard to believe that the mediums on which we as humans used to both write and read have evolved so rapidly. First, we used stone walls to convey messages and information, next we used papyrus and then paper for this purpose yet in more recent years, digital technology has been used to convey information both for formal and informal purposes. The Amazon Kindle has proved to be leading edge when it comes to conveying information in an electronic format. Critics have always given regard to a book's print and not to its paper when reviewing books. Here we will review books in their more modern form, where they are read with the use of the Amazon Kindle.
What is an Amazon Kindle?
An Amazon Kindle is a device which allows users to read e-publications - books, magazines and newspapers in a digital or electronic format. The Amazon Kindle was first released in the year of 2007 and since then, two major Kindle models have been released. Each new Kindle model released has been refined to render the reading of e-publications easier and more authentic. The DX is the latest Kindle model. This model offers a wide range of features not offered by previous models.
How is the Kindle used?
Books, magazines and newspapers are downloaded onto the Amazon Kindle through the use of Amazon's Whispernet network. Downloading is free and the only payment involved is for the cost of the book itself. Once a publication has been chosen, it gets transferred onto the Amazon Kindle in an instant. The Kindle has rendered the buying of books a simpler, swifter process.
How many books come in Kindle format?
Over 600,000 books come in Kindle format. The titles of these books range from the classics (which are often supplied free of charge) to today's bestsellers. Bestselling books are often priced at less than the cost of their paperback equivalent, rendering the Amazon Kindle a profitable buy for avid book readers.
How many e-books can be stored on the Kindle?
The Amazon Kindle 2 is able to store around 1,500 books in digital format. The DX on the other hand can store over 3,000 texts. For most people, carrying over 3,000 paperback texts is inconceivable, rendering the Kindle the obvious choice when it comes to book transportation. The Kindle is considered a slim, well designed electronic library by the 3,000,000 people who already own it.
How much does the Amazon Kindle cost?
The cost of the Amazon Kindle is of importance to interested parties. The Kindle 3G can be purchased for $189 while the Kindle DX can be found for $379. Used Kindles can also be found for purchase at cheaper prices. People have never failed to buy second-hand books and this tradition is likely to be carried into the new digital era.
Reading has evolved from paper to digital formats. Piles of old, dusty books with worn covers will soon be replaced by digital reading platforms like those offered by the various models of the Amazon Kindle. Modern libraries do not require entire rooms for their storage; in fact, they do not even take up the space of a single paperback book. While the pastime of reading may have been transformed by current technology, the Amazon Kindle ensures that reading becomes no less pleasurable than before.
