LOS ANGELES, CA - This might sound like a report on a political race but it is actually a well earned award for the male lead in the short film "Living Surfaces".

David Garver WINS BEST ACTOR award, presented by Festival Founder and Actress Tanna Frederick, at the 2009 Iowa Independent Film Festival in July for playing 'Andrew', a complicated & confused late 20's male, in "Living Surfaces" (written & directed by Abra Chouinard). This is Garver's first award of his career, having been previously nominated for Best Actor in 2005 for "Slumming" at the Long Beach International AOF Festival.

"David is a great actor and you can see it on the screen. I actually made the decision to cast David as the lead before I had even met him. I watched his demo reel once, picked up the phone and immediately called his manager", said Chouinard, as she receives messages on her Palm for the next project she is developing.

Chouinard has an eye for casting talent and it shows in the line-up for "Living Surfaces". Tracey McCall, who plays Garver's manipulative girlfriend 'Jamie', has been on Primetime TV as well as in numerous films. Cyrus Alexander, who plays Garver's manipulative boyfriend 'Toni', recently landed a role in Garry Marshall's new film, "Valentines Day".

"I really enjoy casting," Chouinard said. "I also really enjoy working with the same actors on different projects. That might be a little Wes Anderson of me but there is something fundamentally soothing about working with great people you know and enjoy being around."

Garver is already in-talks with Chouinard's camp (Abra Productions) on another project. This time a feature film. And with "Living Surfaces" well received at the Iowa Independent Film Festival more festivals are expected to unfold heading into fall. The DVD is scheduled to be released in January of 2010.
