March Madness Betting: The Blue Devils Are the West Bracket Top Seed!

On the March Madness betting West Region bracket, the defending national champions Duke Blue Devils hold the top seed, but their road to the Final Four can be quite rocky.

March Madness Betting Favorites:

Duke Blue Devils (30-4 2nd in ACC, ACC Title)

It didn’t come as a surprise when the Duke Blue Devils took one of the four top seeds in the NCAA title tournament where they will be playing as the reigning national champions. Duke faltered towards the end of the regular season with losses to the Virginia Tech Hokies and the North Carolina Tar Heels to concede the top spot in the ACC standings before the conference title tournament, but rebounded by beating both teams by double-digits en route to an ACC title. The road to the Final Four will still be difficult, with potential matchups against the Texas Longhorns and Connecticut Huskies, but that doesn’t really mean that Duke is not expected to come out as winners of this sports betting region.

March Madness Betting: Next in Line

Connecticut Huskies (21-9, 9th in Big East, Big East Title)

Of all the amazing 11 teams that were added to the NCAA national title tournament from the Big East, the Huskies’ story may be the best. The Huskies finished with a .500 record in the team’s conference, and many have dismissed them as a talented team that just isn’t consistent enough to do anything big this season. That all changed when Kemba Walker took his spot at the driver’s seat of the Huskies’ truck that steamrolled its way through the Big East tournament with wins over three of the top-four seeds to clinch the conference title. That included a 76-74 win over the Pittsburgh Panthers in the opening round.

Texas Longhorns (25-6, 2nd in Big 12)

A surprising skid in late February kept the Longhorns from reaching their potential in the Big 12, as Texas conceded both the top seed in the conference tournament and the Big 12 title to the Kansas Jayhawks. The Longhorns lost three of four games over that period, all against unranked opponents that many felt that Jordan Hamilton and company should have buried. Texas will have no problem with Oakland in the opening round, but will then face either Arizona or Memphis before battling it out with the defending champions Duke.

Arizona Wildcats (27-7, 1st in PAC – 10)

Perhaps the one team with the potential to surprise is the PAC-10 champions Wildcats, which dominated their way through conference play before falling to the Washington Huskies in the conference title game. It may be quite a long shot for the Arizona Wildcats in this deep bracket, but if there is one team that is going to upset the sportsbook promo powers at the top, then it will be no one else but this group.
