Derek came into this world unloved,abused and abandoned by his own mother and father.   He was destined to be deleted from his ownfamily. County records state that Derek’s father brutally abused him the firstsix months of his life and then left. The dad was later found at Folsom StatePrison for the criminally insane. Derek never knew his dad.   At five years old, Derek’s mother and stepfather turned himover to the county foster care services. His parents continued to love and takecare of his brother and sister but Derek had to be removed because of his behavioralissues.   Derek felt he had been deletedfrom his family. Psychiatric reports stated that atthe age of 5 years old, Derek had extreme behavioral problems, languagedifficulties and a fascination with violence and death. Neurological reportsstated that at six years old, he had the IQ of a two and a half year old. Havingbeen misdiagnosed with mental handicaps and aretic psychosis, Derek hasdefied the artificial limitations imposed upon him.   Today Derek Clark stands 6 foot,5 inches and has a voice resonating with a singular passion due to a life ofcoping with adversity and overcoming hardship. His years have been colored byextremes of fear, humiliation, aggression, emotional distress and overwhelminganxiety and yet, the dire circumstances of his life have never been obstaclesto him succeeding at those endeavors which he has aspired to.   As anAuthor, Inspirational Speaker and Singer/Songwriter, he now lives a life ofhappiness and peace sharing his message of hope with youth and adults all overthe nation.
