Many people and groups these days have sprung up on the Internet with a website stating "we do free. professional no charge paranormal investigations". With the popularity of TAPS, Paranormal State and other such shows, may people are jumping onto the bandwagon of mainstream ghost hunting. How professional are these people anyway? How would you know the difference?
Here are some ways to know:
- How many people are in their group?
- How many investigations have they done as a group?
- What type of equipment do they use?
- Do they actively build their own devices?
- What is the background of each investigator?
- Do they include true skeptics on their team?
- Do they have samples of their work? Photos, evps, video recordings, case files, etc?

The Indiana Kentucky Ohio Paranormal Society is one such professional investigation team. They have ten members, including a 20 year retired police officer, network engineer school teachers and sales executives. They have over five thousand dollars in equipment, over 50 investigations and they even have a production team that follows them to document their investigations televsion style (they'll give a copy of the DVD to the owner of the property for review). They are building their own YouTube channel (amongst other websites) and they're working with many cable outlets on a production series.
